Welcome

Welcome to the home of the 2007 Inaugural Surf Life Saving Australia : Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Float.

As you may be aware, 2007 is the official Year of the Surf Lifesaver. The Year of the Surf Lifesaver marks the 100th anniversary of Surf Life Saving Australia.

Surf Life Saving Australia is a community-based organisation primarily supported by some 112,000 members from 305 surfclubs from around Australia. Without the membership of volunteers, the organisation would not be what it is today.

A few surf lifesavers from Sydney's best known city beaches have come together with a dream - to see Surf Life Saving Australia represented in this years' Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) Parade on Saturday 3 March 2007.

We are organising a float and are seeking an expression of interest from fellow gay and lesbian lifesavers and lifeguards from across Australia (and possibly the world?).

This blog site, lifesaver2007.blogspot.com is a way to keep up to date with developments and to register your interest if you would like to be a part of the glitz, glamour and fun.

Please bear in mind this is a work in progress, so check the blog frequently for up-to-date information. Please feel free to contribute and pass the details of this blog on to your friends and other people you think might be interested.

If you would like to participate, email
lifesaver2007@gmail.com with your name, email address, phone number, surf club - we'll be in touch very soon.

Don't forget to swim between the flags and of course, Happy Mardi Gras 2007!
