Calling All Bronzies

Ready to have the time of your life? Ready to make some great new friends? Ready to march?

Save the date: Saturday 27th February, 2010

Please come join your fellow lifesavers in what is always the highlight of the Mardi Gras calendar... the Lifesavers with Pride march in the 2010 Mardi Gras Parade.

You will be proudly representing Gay and Lesbian Surf Lifesavers from throughout Australia in a show of unity and support.

Above all, your participation in the march is about enjoying the thrill and camaraderie of doing something that is FUN while getting to make new friends!

It's all about inclusion! We'll welcome you as you are! It's not a beauty parade - it's coming together!

OVERVIEW
Here's what typically happens:
- Sign-up - Everyone must sign-up via email to indicate their participation - marchers, helpers, etc
- Rehearsals - Four weeknight evenings of these. Venue to be announced. Thursdays and a Tuesday.
- Additional Events - Optional appearances at other events (e.g. Bingay, Tamarama BBQ) - note this is optional!
- Mardi Gras Parade - Meet late afternoon and then march down Oxford Street from Hyde Park to just past Taylor Square

Please make note on your fridge door of the following dates (rehearsal venues to be announced):
1) Rehearsal #1 - Thursday, 11 February
2) Rehearsal #2 - Thursday, 18 February
3) Rehearsal #3 - Tuesday, 23 February
4) Rehearsal #4 - Thursday, 25 February
5) Mardi Gras Parade - Saturday, 27 February

TWO REQUIREMENTS
1) The requirement to march with Lifesavers with Pride is that you have obtained (or are training for) your Bronze Medallion.
2) Attend minimum of THREE rehearsals! Everyone marching in synch is a must! Attendance is logged.

The next step is easy. You must register regardless of whether you have marched before or not. All future communications about the march will only be to those that have replied.

WE WON!!

Angela's stunning choreography in the Mardi Gras won us our second award in three years. We've taken home the "Best Choreography" award in the Mardi Gras awards, held at slide recently.

We are STILL Everywhere!

I've been getting emails and phone calls with reports of us on the news on Channel 9, Channel 7 on Sunrise, in MX Newspaper, SMH and even the Illawarra Mercury.
Below are a few of the media clips that we've tracked down so far. It's an often asked question "Why are the lifesavers so popular?" Because we are sexy and fantastic. It's Mardi Gras day, the BIG Day. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and enthusiasm. Have a fantastic parade experience!

We're EVERYWHERE!

After last night's media rehearsal and then a few of us being lucky enough to be there when Fifi Box did her live weather cross this morning on Sunrise, I think we can say the Lifesavers With Pride are as popular with the media as ever.
Today we've also been featured on ninemsn, as well as Sydney Star Observer running an interview with Owen that came out yesterday!
Thanks to everyone that has cooperated with doing media stuff so far. There's one more day of it to go! The big day!

The final routine! Get practicing!

I apologise that this routine wasn't up last night for you all to be practicing but we were all caught up at Big Bingay running around in our speedos (and Nick doing the odd handstand). We had a fantastic night and helped them raise a lot of money.
So, here's the routine. We are going to be fabulous! Don't forget the extra rehearsal on Tuesday night if you can make it!

For everyone that was at the second rehearsal I think it's a fair statement to say we achieved a lot, and it's going to be a GREAT routine. The crowd is going to love it. God knows the patrol and the public on Bondi beach seemed to find it quite entertaining watching us run through it a few times for the Foxtel taping.
