SBS TO FILM LWP APR 21
Hey, as mentioned, SBS are filming a show which includes LWP. There's a drama and a doco being filmed concurrently, and some footage was taken on parade night with some LWP members heading for stardom.
They now want to film a rehearsal scene which will require us reconvening for a dummy practise. This will be on Thursday 21 April. All attendees will be paid, and the day will be catered. There are a few scenes in the day, involving preparing a parade truck which anyone is welcome to, and then the rehearsal scenes start at 4pm for about four hours. You can just come to this part if you like. Bring your branded swimmers.
They'll make up numbers with extra's but it would be good if we could fill it ourselves. Bring your friends if you like, and volunteers and previous parade entrants are also welcome. Not sure if we are filming set pieces or they are just filming us do our thing but Bravo will be there to lead the way.
Let me know if you are interested so I can get numbers to them. lifesaverswithpride@gmail.com
See you soon.

PARADE DAY LOGISTICS
OK, its nearly time, and its all getting very exciting now.
Saturday we will be meeting at the main entrance to the Sydney Football Stadium at 4pm. By 4.30, after changing into your swimmers, cap and plain white shoes, we'll rehearse on the grass across the road for a bit with your issued coloured towel. We'll store our bags in a van that will remain here (probably in the SFS carpark), then head together to Hyde Park in our swimmers to marshal. Only bring a small bag to store in the van. Anything that you bring with you into marshaling, such as a T-shirt, will need to be discarded as we have no facility to store stuff on the truck. Wrist bands will be passed around at Moore Park so you must be there before we head off and you can not enter the marshaling area without a band.
After the parade, which will end in front of the SFS this year, we will then gather and disseminate the gear from the van. We will then move off together for a well earned refreshment.
As we are representing SLSA, no alcohol, and no drugs. You will be removed if you bring either, or arrive under the influence of either. And remember to respect your fellow marchers and the wonderful volunteers who help us. This will be the first hot and dry weather MG in a while so our water carriers will be most appreciated.
But most of all, have fun, smile for the cameras, rev up the crowd and do us proud. Happy Mardi Gras guys.
Remember unbranded swimmers, cap, white shoes and coloured towel for 4pm at SFS

Final Media Rehearsal this Thursday
Hey,
Don't forget that this Thursday is the Media Rehearsal at Bondi Surf Club. All marchers and Volunteers are requested to attend. Media will be present from 7pm, so come early if you can, from say 6.30pm to be ready. You'll need your branded swimwear, patrol cap and issued coloured towel. After the media scrum, we'll do some more polishing of the routine, volunteers will go through their respective roles, the last of the towels and swimmers will be issued, then we'll also provide the final details for Saturday.
Also remember that you will need to provide a pair of white shoes for parade day. We want all focus to be on our marching, our choreography, our swimwear and the towels and flags, not on bright or distracting footwear. Dunlop volleys are a good start so if you still have a pair, feel free to wear them, otherwise, you have just over a week to head out and grab yourself a pair of all white footwear.
As mentioned at rehearsal, we are making the meeting point and departing point smoother than last year (not particularly hard). This will involve a van or truck. In the interest of reducing our costs, rather than hiring a vehicle, we are hoping someone within our group can provide one. It will be for storing bags in and will remain in the one location the entire time. It means that the person who provides it can drive right up to our meeting point, and can drive off straight away from the same departing point too. Please let the committee know if you can help out so that we don't have to fork out more $$$ on another vehicle.
Note that there will be no swimwear or towels issued on parade day to marchers or volunteers so make sure you have collected all your gear prior to parade day, or contact the committee to make alternate plans. This includes uniforms for volunteers.
OK, see you on Thursday ready for the cameras.
